How we got started…

“Have you ever heard of anyone eating ice cream with a fork? Well, that’s how our dad always ate his, with a fork and straight out of the container.  His favorite flavor was strawberry.  Our great uncle made homemade ice cream using fresh, home-grown strawberries and peaches picked right out of the orchard.  Many of our fondest memories from childhood involved evening family time and delicious ice cream.”

- West & Livonia Fint

In 2019, West met a man by the name of Carl Merat. He was the owner of Sluggo’s Homemade Ice Cream, located in Madison Heights, VA.  West started spending some of his free time learning the ins and outs of making ice cream under Carl’s instruction. It wasn’t long until the dream of opening an ice cream parlor, right here in Stuarts Draft, took flight. Who better to make ice cream than a family who grew up sharing delicious homemade ice cream together and working in the dairy business??? That’s when West and his sister Livonia teamed up!  They developed a vision for homemade ice cream, and Sweet Scoops Ice Cream Parlor was born.

Draft Creamery LLC, is the manufacturing plant that supplies premium, dip-style ice cream to Sweet Scoops daily.  Draft Creamery also wholesales ice cream to businesses, restaurants and coffee shops.
